Questions and Answers

How many domains are in the database?

Our global database contains over 265 million domains. The information for these domains is collected from domain registrars and 1,592 domain zones which are the authorative source for DNS records throughout the world. Our database covers approximately 90% of public and active domains. We remove deleted domains and add new domains on a daily basis.

Achieving 100% coverage of domains is not possible as some registrars/domain zones do not provide this data for privacy or technical reasons. Should a client identify an unknown domain, we research and publisn the domain information within 24 hours.

Surprisingly, the total number of domains in the database is fairly static over a year  as the number of deleted domains removed each day is similar to the number of newly registered domains.
